Invisalign for Crowded Teeth – Baytown, TX
Creating Space with a Clear Method of Treatment
Crowded teeth are problematic. When teeth grow in at different angles or push through in areas that have limited space, this creates not only a less-than aesthetically pleasing smile, but it also causes problems with your oral health. Teeth that are not straight are harder to clean. When teeth are set side-by-side, it is easy to maneuver dental floss and feel confident that you’ve done everything you can to remove the harmful bacteria and food particles from your mouth. However, with crowded teeth, getting rid of plaque and tartar can be hard, if not impossible. This is why Invisalign in Baytown can be the answer to improving your oral health. Dr. Dean Hutto can create space with this clear method of treatment. Contact us today to schedule a consultation.
What Can Happen if Crowded Teeth are Left Untreated?
If you never had braces as a child or teenager, you may find that as an adult, it’s becoming more and more difficult to keep your mouth clean because of your crowded teeth. As a working professional, you may discover that your smile isn’t something you feel comfortable showing off, and you are discovering each time you visit the dentist that there’s a problem with your teeth and/or gums.
Just like a person who has too much space between their teeth, an individual with crowded teeth can experience just as many problems. If left untreated, you can expect one, if not all, of the following to occur:
- Gum disease
- Tooth decay and cavities
- Bad breath
How Can Invisalign Help Treat Crowded Teeth?
If you’re ready to do something about your crowded teeth, then it is time to talk to Dr. Hutto and discuss the possibility of Invisalign. These clear braces can shift your teeth in a way that is gentler, discreet, and faster than traditional metal braces. During your initial consultation, your cosmetic dentist in Baytown will discuss your Invisalign goals. Once he has examined your smile and taking impressions of your teeth and gums, he will begin to map out your smile sequence. This will serve as a guide for the dental lab technicians who create your aligners.
Once your trays are finished and arrive in our office, you’ll return to have your first set placed in your mouth. Dr. Hutto will provide detailed instructions on how long you’ll need to wear your aligners each day (20-22 hours), and how long your treatment will expect to take.
After 1-2 weeks of wearing your Invisalign, you will swap them out for the next set in the series. This will gently move your teeth in the right direction, helping to free up space and shift your teeth into proper alignment.
Once you’ve completed treatment, which typically takes between 10-18 months, you’ll be required to wear a retainer to keep your teeth from shifting back into their original position.
